Mosley reviews Pacquiao-Marquez fight tapes

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao’s challenger, former world champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley, is confident of his chances against the Filipino boxing superstar.
Mosley said he has seen the Filipino champion’s fights against elite Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez, and he told Fighthype.com’s Ben Thompson that he spotted things he can capitalize on when he fights the Filipino boxer on May 7.
“I watch[ed] everything to see how he moves, what's he's successful at, what he's not successful at, you know? I pretty much watch[ed] it all,” said the 39-year-old Mosley, who has held several world titles in 3 weight classes.
Marquez, known for his technical fighting skills, gave Pacquiao the stiffest competition during the Filipino’s ascent to multi-division championships.
In 2004, the Mexican secured a controversial draw against Pacquiao despite being knocked down 3 times early in the fight.
Four years later, the two battled again in a closely fought rematch with Pacquiao winning by split decision.
“I just finished watching him fight Marquez the second time,” said Mosley.
Mosley said that his punching power, combined with the “openings” he saw in Pacquiao’s fighting style could spell the Filipino champion’s doom.
“I'm pretty sure I'm going to be pretty good with landing a lot of punches on him,” said the American boxer. “Once I hit him, he's not going to feel nothing like this before (sic).”
Mosley, who will be challenging Pacquiao for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title, already began sparring with several boxers in preparation for the fight.
“I've been sparring with everybody basically. They put 'em in one at a time and everybody does a round with me; one round and then I go to the next guy. They go as hard as they can go and then another guy comes in the next round,” he explained.
Pacquiao himself was scheduled to spar on Tuesday.
The Filipino champion is currently training in Baguio City together with esteemed boxing coach, Freddie Roach.
Pacquiao, who won 8 world titles in 8 weight classes, has 52 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws.
Mosley, on the other hand, has a professional record of 46 wins, 6 losses and a draw.

Manny Pacquiao will defend his WBO (World Boxing Organization) Welterweight Belt against Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12. The Welterweight Division has a weight limit of 147 pounds but since both camp agreed to fight at a “catch-weight”, the weight limit will be at 144 pounds. If someone is above the weight limit, he will be penalized and pay a huge amount to the opponent.

Manny Pacquiao, a congressman in the Philippines, has been fighting in the higher weight classes lately. He is on a 14 winning streak and his fight last November 2010, against Antonio Margarito, was the highest weigh division he’s been, at 154 lbs.

Marquez won two straight fights and his last defeat was against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September 2009. He is scheduled to a tune-up fight against David Diaz in July but the negotiations fell because of money issues. This time, Marquez is looking for opponents that will not give too much risk.

Marquez will get $5 million plus PPV incentives while Pacman is expected to get $15 million. If Juan Manuel wins the Marquez vs Pacquiao fight, he will fight Manny again in May 2011 and his guaranteed money will become $10 million.

He was named "Fighter of the Decade" for the 2000s by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA). He is also a three-time The Ring and BWAA "Fighter of the Year", winning the award in 2006, 2008, and 2009.
Currently, Pacquiao is the WBO Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion). He is also currently rated as the "number one" pound-for-pound best boxer in the world by most sporting news and boxing websites, including The Ring, BoxRec.com, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, NBC Sports, Yahoo! Sports, Sporting Life and About.com.
Aside from boxing, Pacquiao has participated in acting, music recording, and politics. In May 2010, Pacquiao was elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines, representing the province of Sarangani.
Personal Life
Pacquiao was born on December 17, 1978, in Kibawe, Bukidnon, Philippines. He is the son of Rosalio Pacquiao and Dionesia Dapidran-Pacquiao. His parents separated when he was in sixth grade, after his mother discovered that his father was living with another woman. He is the fourth among six siblings: Liza Silvestre-Onding and Domingo Silvestre (from first husband of his mother) and Isidra Pacquiao-Paglinawan, Alberto "Bobby" Pacquiao and Rogelio Pacquiao.
Pacquiao is married to Maria Geraldine "Jinkee" Jamora, and they have four children: Emmanuel Jr. "Jimuel", Michael, Princess, and Queen Elizabeth "Queenie". He resides in his hometown General Santos City, South Cotabato, Philippines. However, as a congressman of lone district of Sarangani, he is officially residing in Kiamba, Sarangani, the hometown of his wife.
Pacquiao is a devout Roman Catholic. Within the ring, he frequently makes the sign of the cross and every time he comes back from a successful fight abroad, he attends a thanksgiving Mass in Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila to kneel and pray.
Pacquiao is also a military reservist with the rank of Sergeant Major for the 15th Ready Reserve Division of the Philippine Army. When younger he had considered becoming a soldier, and was enlisted in the military reserve force as an Army Private.
Education
Pacquiao completed his elementary education at Saavedra Saway Elementary School in General Santos City, but dropped out of high school due to extreme poverty. He left his home at age 14 because his mother, who had six children, was not making enough money to support her family.
In February 2007 he took, and passed, a high school equivalency exam making him eligible for college education. He was awarded with a high school diploma by the Department of Education. Pacquiao enrolled for a college degree in business management at Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU) in his hometown in General Santos City.
On February 18, 2009, Pacquiao was conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) by Southwestern University (SWU) at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu City in recognition of his boxing achievements and humanitarian work.
In preparation for his career as a lawmaker in the House of Representatives, Pacquiao enrolled in the Certificate Course in Development, Legislation, and Governance at the Development Academy of the Philippines - Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM).
Amateur boxing career
At the age of 14, Pacquiao moved to Manila and lived, for a time, on the streets. He started boxing and made the Philippine national amateur boxing team where his room and board were paid for by the government. Pacquiao reportedly had an amateur record of 64 fights (60-4).
